Sanguine Sea - Irish Singer/Songwriter
The Wonderful World of Sanguine Sea

Looking towards the future, with one eye firmly fixed on the past, Sanguine Sea consist of singer/songwriter Alan A. Redmond, originally from Dublin, Ireland, now based in Norwich, England, with occasional guest performances from local musicians. Alan A. wrote his first song "Travelling Show" at the age of 12 on a second-hand guitar so big that his face wasn't visible for years, and has played in bands in Dublin and London.

Sanguine Sea now perform in many venues and bring the live original set nationwide to small venues and festivals. Since leaving Dublin at the age of 17, he has derived inspiration for his music through the people he has met and the experiences he has had, whilst living in Dublin, London, Frankfurt and Amsterdam. The Band's original music aims to rip your heart out and feed it back to you, and is both emotive and in part, autobiographical. It focuses heavily upon melody within the body of each song. The band have been described  as 'Scott Walker meets Crowded House in an Irish Bar', which is quite apt, as songs like "Out of the Blue", "In All of  These Years" , "9 Months in the Wilderness" and "Swallow Me Up!" will confirm.

So, please stop by again and listen to the latest recordings; view gig-listings, pictures, lyrics and videos; read reviews and news; enter competitions; post comments; join in with the new blog and generally take a dip into the inspirational waters of Sanguine Sea!

What an eventful 6 weeks in the ongoing life/saga of Alan A. Redmond (aka Sanguine Sea). Personally it has been the biggest Rollercoaster ride of my life, failing outta love and then falling into love elsewhere. Been writing new tracks "Horizon", "One Simple Thing", "All The Reasons Why" and co-written "Battle Cry" with the very wonderful chanteuse, Kitty, with whom I have also had the pleasure of performing the track live, to great local plaudits. The track has also been recorded by my great Studio Engineer/Musician friend Anto Morra, and also includes a tongue-in-cheek version of Petula Clark's "Downtown" ........ So, for now, I have no real idea where I'm heading, but I know I will get there, and hope to have you with me, each step of the way!! :-)

*** Currently working on New Videos***

Sanguine Sea have decided to focus all energies into creating videos for some of the latest tracks, and hope to have the complete 3-song DVD ready in time for Summer. Tracks lined-up to be filmed are "Until The Cavalry Come", "Horizon" and "Out of the Blue". So, please lend your support by regularly visiting the site for updates and also tell all your friends and family about Sanguine Sea.......much love to all

"The symbolism of the number '8', deals largely with business, success, and wealth. This is due to the fact that '8' represents continuation and cycles. Such elements are seen in arenas where success is obtained simply because of dogged determination......"

However, I am back on the piano and will try write some new tracks there, until I can afford an Ibanez JSA5....."

Let me explain - "...Some good news to report; a local band who get paid £800 to play weddings have just announced that they are 'disbanding' and breaking-up!!! Now, I don't mean to be cruel, but where's the satisfaction in playing "Summer of 69" to aged grannies, over and over again? So, a little battle has been won....Now, bring on the war!!!!.........". Please feel free to join in (we are 7 strong after only 2 days, so there is a common mood out there) & upload your very own song (quality not important, but originality IS!). Just click on the 'Music' Tab and scroll to the bottom of the page.

  • And finally, before I announce the June Competition, I have to say how humbled/happy/proud and ridiculously thrilled I am to have almost hit the 5,000 hit-rate mark for this official site. Just imagine what could happen to the music of Sanguine Sea if a major label came along and introduced it's media trickery? WOW xxxx
